Artist Development - Strategic 1:1 Support for Independent Artists

Strategic 1:1 Support for Independent Artists

Making great music is the hardest part. But knowing what to do with it — how to position it, release it, market it, and build a career around it - is a different skill entirely. One that takes years of industry experience to develop.

That's where we come in.

Blinding Talent's artist development programme gives you direct access to Mark Adams - a music industry executive with 28 years of experience across Channel 4, Bauer Media, radio, television and the full arc of the UK and international music industry. Someone who has been at the table during some of the most significant moments in modern music, and who now brings that experience directly to independent artists who deserve the same quality of thinking.

This isn't a course, a group programme or a set curriculum. It's a working relationship, built entirely around you - your music, your goals, your timeline, your challenges.

What we cover together

Every programme is tailored, but there are six areas where almost every artist we work with needs support at some stage:

Your artist identity is the container everything else lives inside. Before a listener hears your music, they've already formed an impression from your name, your visuals, your bio and the way you present yourself online.

We help you clarify who you are as an artist, position your brand with intention, and build an identity that's consistent, distinctive and built to last.

Great careers are built on great songs. We'll give you honest, experienced feedback on your music - including song selection, production quality, arrangement and timing.

Not what you want to hear, but what you need to hear, delivered with the care and respect your work deserves.

Audience building is one of the most misunderstood parts of an artist's career. Which platforms actually matter for where you are right now? What kind of content actually converts? How do you build an audience that is genuinely engaged, not just counted?

We help you understand the answers to these questions - and build a marketing approach that fits your music and your budget.

Most artists are working hard without a clear direction.

We help you build a focused, realistic roadmap for the next six to twelve months - including release schedule, campaign timing, budget allocation and the milestones that tell you whether you're on track.

Clarity makes everything else easier.

The decisions you make around releasing music - when, how, where and to whom - have a huge impact on outcomes.

We help you make smarter release decisions, backed by real industry knowledge: when to pitch to Spotify editorial, how to time press, what distribution looks like at different stages, and how to build momentum rather than starting from zero with every release.

The music industry runs on relationships. Knowing who to approach, how to approach them and when is something that takes most artists years to figure out through trial and error.

You don't have to. Mark's network spans labels, management, publishing, PR, sync and live - and he'll help you understand how to navigate it in a way that feels authentic and that serves your long-term interests.

How it works

The programme includes fortnightly 1:1 strategy meetings - with Mark directly if you're on the primary consultant programme, or with a Blinding Talent manager (with Mark's ongoing oversight and input) on the supported programme.

Between sessions, you have regular contact via email, WhatsApp and iMessage. The pace, focus and structure of each programme adapts as you progress.

We also connect you to a pre-qualified network of creatives and industry contacts where relevant - photographers, videographers, producers, mixers and industry professionals who we know and trust.

"I want artists to ask better questions. To focus on what they need, rather than what they want. That's what this programme is designed to do." — Mark Adams

Who this is for

Artist development works best for independent artists who are serious about building a long-term career - not just a single release. You don't need to be at a particular stage. You do need to be ready to have honest conversations, take clear-eyed feedback and commit to the work.

If you're unsure whether the programme is right for where you are, the best place to start is a free strategy call. There's no pressure - just an honest conversation about what you need and whether we're the right fit.

Artist development is suitable for independent artists at any stage who are serious about building a long-term music career. It works particularly well for artists who have strong creative work but lack clarity on their strategy, positioning or next steps - or who want honest, experienced guidance from someone who has navigated the music industry at a senior level.

No. While many artists come to us at earlier stages of their career, the programme is equally valuable for artists who have been releasing music for some time but feel stuck, unclear on direction, or ready to take their career to the next level. The programme adapts to where you are.

Most artist development services are run by people with limited industry experience or a narrow specialism. Mark Adams brings 28 years of experience across Channel 4, Bauer Media, radio, television, brand partnerships, streaming platforms and the full music industry ecosystem.

He has worked with artists at every stage and from every genre - which means the guidance you receive is grounded in real, senior-level experience rather than theory.
